An audio archive that remembers every word

Reports, interviews, promos, old jingles: whatever daily programming no longer needs leaves your playout system cleanly, metadata and all. It stays searchable, and one click brings it back to air.

Sound familiar?

  • “Years of expired promos clog your playout system, and even the current one is hard to find.
  • “You know there was a great interview with the mayor – you just can’t remember the file name.
  • “The same jingle in two places, two versions – and nobody knows which one is current.

01

Library: every item in one place

Two views, one switch: in the Playout view you mark what goes to the archive, in the Archive view you search and bring items back. Artist, title, type, category, length and dates stay with every item.

  • One-click restore from the preserved metadata
  • A colour-coded status badge on every row
  • Bulk types hidden by default, one chip shows them

Search for what was said

When enabled, speech recognition transcribes audio as it is archived. Find an old interview by what was said in it, even if the title gives nothing away – every hit is highlighted in the transcript.

  • Search by title, artist and transcript text
  • Hits highlighted in the full transcript
  • AI only transcribes – it never touches the audio

  • One item, one place

An item lives either in your playout system or in the archive – never both. No duplicates, and no “which version is current?”

  • Protected items

Station IDs, show openers, evergreen jingles: exclude them from archiving in one click, so they never leave the air by accident.

  • Mark now, change your mind later

On screen you only mark items; a background worker moves the files. Until it runs, every mark can be undone – and deleting needs Shift held down.

  • Your own tags

Show series, topics, retention notes: group your archive with your own colour tags. Global tags are shared across all your stations.

How it works

From retirement to return

  1. 1Find the item to retire in the Playout view
  2. 2Mark it for archiving – undoable until the worker runs
  3. 3The worker copies the file and verifies it bit for bit
  4. 4Only then is it removed from playout
  5. 5A transcript is made, if transcription is on
  6. 6Need it again? Restore it in one click

Archiving is not deleting

Audio leaves your playout system only once the archived copy is verified bit-for-bit identical to the original. If a transcript fails, the audio file stays safe and intact.

What goes into the archive

  • Reports
  • Interviews
  • Promos
  • Jingles
  • Campaign spots

Frequently asked questions

Which playout system does archiving work with?

Items are retired and restored through the Zetta API, so this part needs RCS Zetta. Searching the audio already in the archive works with any setup.

Is AI transcription required?

No, transcription is optional. Speech recognition only writes down what is said – it makes no decisions and never touches the audio. If a transcript fails, the audio stays intact and the text can be added later.

Can I undo it if I marked the wrong item?

Yes, until the worker has run: the undo button reverses archiving, restoring and deleting alike. Permanent deletion also needs Shift held down, so a single stray click can’t trigger it.
